This is a very well written post, and I think you hit the nail on the head. A lot of males and females are so obsessed? with finding the "visual ideal" that they have developed in their mind (due to media, society's expectations, fantasy, friends opinions, porn, to impress family?) that they tend to chase that image with blinders on. To which as you pointed out is unavailable most of the time regardless of how you change yourself to what you think would fit their standards.

I can see how "the past is the past" is an argument that can be made by somebody who feels like they have something they'd rather put away because they are afraid of judgment.
When we talked about it, I asked him if he trusted me, and he said that he trusted me, but that was not the issue. He feels disrespected, not cheated on. But I cant seem to make any headway, as like i mentioned he is avoiding me. I know him, I know how he thinks, I know he is having second thoughts about us. I am scared that he will realise that with girls from his own background, he will not have these problems and he will not have to deal with anything like this... While it may be nice to have a guy with money, there's so many more important things to consider in a man. Character is what I value in a man the most. Then personality, then appearance/attractiveness, then zest for life, then work ethic, then a number of other things. How much money he has comes pretty low on the list for me. My husband was a broke college student when I met him and when I married him. So was I. So many more things more important in life than money. While there are certainly women who think that is THE #1 consideration when looking for a man, I am not one of those women. I live by the philosophy in the Bible: Don't place your value in money, because it has the wings of an eagle, and often doesn't last.
